A Special Edition of the Neohumanist Review
ENLIGHTENED LEADERSHIP
Neohumanist Review 6
Publication date: March 2026
The Neohumanist Review invites a diverse range of explorations into the role of enlightened leadership in these challenging times. The articles should explore Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar’s concept of enlightened leadership, sadvipra, as an ethical, visionary figure aiming to guide societies through transformative cycles in the 21st Century and beyond. Authors can engage in interdisciplinary approaches that span economics, sociology, environmental science, philosophies of technology, new materialism, post-humanism, postcolonial studies, feminist futures, and related fields.
Papers should consider neohumanism’s inner and outer resilience and spirituality while mapping pathways to foster systemic change, enhance future literacy, and relate to emergent philosophies. The special edition contributors are invited to critically explore the interplay between neohumanism and emergent philosophical perspectives, examining how interconnectedness can inform ethics, education, and human agency in a rapidly evolving world.
This special edition aims to explore:
1. Sadvipra’s Journey is a metaphor for examining the path of adaptation, growth and learning that must be traversed as the sadvipra moves into the 21st century and beyond.
2. Social order (habitus) highlights how contemporary society challenges and reshapes the collective values, norms, and structures that individuals form and explores how the evolving social order impacts neohumanism.
3. How does the sadvipra create a dialogue between neohumanism and emergent philosophical perspectives to explore how spiritual and material views of interconnectedness can inform ethics, education, and agency?
4. Link timeless principles of neohumanism with contemporary challenges to technology, education, environmental concerns, policy-making, and collective well-being.
The edition seeks to further inspire innovative frameworks and actionable strategies for fostering a more compassionate, interconnected, and ethical global society by critically engaging with neohumanist concepts.
Themes
We seek contributions that engage deeply with, but are not limited to, the following themes:
Sadvipra’s Journey
Using the metaphor of a journey, this theme examines the path of adaptation, growth, and learning necessary for the sadvipra—the intellectual warrior of change—to navigate the 21st century and beyond. Papers might explore:
1. How the sadvipra’s role evolves in response to social, technological, and environmental changes.
2. The interplay between contemporary society and sadvipra’s guiding principles.
3. Whether the sadvipra must necessarily embody neohumanist values to remain relevant in an increasingly complex world.
4. Futures literacy perspective: As sadvipra’s journey evolves, how does the adaptation inform and enhance our capacity to anticipate and navigate alternative futures?
Social Order (Habitus)
This theme invites critical reflections on how contemporary society reshapes collective values, norms, and structures, impacting neohumanist principles. Suggested areas of focus include:
1. The role of neohumanism in addressing challenges posed by shifting social orders.
2. How neohumanist frameworks can contribute to resilience and agency within evolving social norms.
3. Intersections between neohumanism and theories of social habitus in fostering ethical and sustainable societal change.
4. Case studies on leaders embodying neohumanist or sadvipra-like traits and how they have responded to global changes.
Dialogues Between Neohumanism and Emergent Philosophies
This theme explores how neohumanism engages with emergent philosophical perspectives to address spiritual and material views of interconnectedness. Contributions might consider:
1. How neohumanism can dialogue with posthumanism, new materialism, and feminist futures.
2. The implications on the role of the sadvipra when considering the interconnectedness of ethics, education, and individual, technological and collective agency.
3. How does neohumanism bridge spiritual and material concerns to foster systemic transformation, and how is that spirituality expressed in the human-AI relationship?
4. Futures literacy perspective: How can the fusion of neohumanism and emergent philosophies equip individuals and societies to imagine and prepare for multiple future scenarios?
